New CAS in Stakeholder Management & Stewardship

In today's fast-paced business landscape, the spotlight on companies extends beyond profit margins and the bottom line. Companies face a rising tide of expectations from their stakeholders on topics such as the environment, people, and corporate governance, increasingly also with a view towards their strategic anchoring. Navigating this dynamic terrain is no longer a choice but a necessity for companies as the convergence of these elements becomes the cornerstone for a successful long-term business model.

Addressing this development and supporting companies in dealing with the evolving intertwined issues professionally, the University of Zurich’s finance executive education program is launching a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Stakeholder Management and Stewardship. The curriculum for this course was developed together with the leading professional associations in the field, the Center for Corporate Reporting and SIX Exchange.

Together with the CCR, we are able to provide participants not only with the conceptual foundations of thinking broader and deeper, but also get practitioner insights in how to actually implement new approaches to stakeholder management. By leveraging the expertise of the CCR membership pool, participants gain access to industry-leading practical examples, transforming theoretical knowledge into real-world application. This collaboration stands as a testimony of the successful integration of academia and industry, offering an unparalleled opportunity for program participants.

Together, we intend to foster a more interdisciplinary approach to stakeholder management, enable participants to think multidimensionally and showcase the achievable benefits as well as the pitfalls that need to be overcome to succeed as one team of many skills, thriving in today's multifaceted business environment.

- Dr. Christoph Wenk, Project Manager & Research Fellow, University of Zurich | Finance Executive Education

The CAS supports participants in tackling the intertwined and strategic challenges successfully, familiarizing participants with relevant topics as well as with approaches to successfully deal with them in today’s fast-changing environment. The CAS makes use of the University of Zurich’s broad curriculum of disciplines to introduce participants to the structured thinking and academic evidence in the field on the one hand and on the other by exposing participants to industry experts sharing their hands-on experience on how they deal with these challenges.

«The Center for Corporate Reporting (CCR) has built an international network of experts to support member companies in line with its mission “Enabling Stakeholder Excellence and Value Creation”. Since our foundation over 10 years ago, we have been promoting exchange among our member companies and fostering peer-to-peer learning. The CCR is convinced that interdisciplinary teamwork across functions and hierarchies coupled with integrated thinking is needed to meet today’s challenges of the transformation to a sustainable economy. Therefore, we support the new CAS of UZH since it provides inspiration and tools to meet increasing and diverse stakeholder requirements.»

Reto Schneider, Founder, Center for Corporate Reporting (CCR)
